The dental school of the Universidad Central de Venezuela, understanding its roll among the Venezuelan society, has created a dental service to treat people who live with infect contagious diseases, which did not existed in the country. Under the dean administration of Cecilia Garcia Arocha in 1995, and with the promotion of the professor Elsa La Corte. The service is open in November 1998. In 1999 started Oral pathology Vilma Tovar as chief of the services and since then, the service evolved to a National Center of reference. The people who are treated are 97%, HIV positive. The center provides specialized dental attention as well as it is a center of investigation in subjects related to HIV dental treatment, and co infections. Objectives: Describes the activities provided at the Center for Dental attention for people living with HIV, 1999-2005. Method: A retrospective, descriptive and preliminary study which includes 1258 dental patients treated among 1999-2005. Results: Among this period 1258 people where treated with infect contagious diseases, 869 (90%) where adults, 98 (10%) where children, 166 assisted for dental emergencies, (57%) adults and 125 (43%) children. The infect contagious diseases most common among adults were HIV 845 (87%), followed by HVC 17 (2%), among children, 94 (96%) were HIV, followed by HVB 3 (3%). The years with the most new adults patients was 2001 (163), and in children 2002 (30).
