SALAZAR MERCHAN, Alejandro. Sedación analgesia con dexmedetomidina comparada con propofol en Procedimientos de cirugía bucal. Acta odontol. venez [online]. 2008, vol.46, n.4, pp.487-494. ISSN 0001-6365.
The purpose of this assay was to evaluate the effectiveness and safety of a dosage in continuous infusion of Dexmedetomidine and compare it with Propofol as sedation agent during extraction of third molars. A comparative clinical assay was made, a double blind , prospective, of parallel groups with single random allocation of 44 patients. 22 received Dexmedetomidina: 0,2 ¼gr kg-1H-1, and 22 received Propofol: 100mg kg-1 min-1. Results: A greater time was demonstrated to reach sedation level. with Dexmedetomidina. Disconfort during the injection of local anaesthetics and during the surgical extraction. The need of extra dosage of local anaesthetics was smaller with Dexmedetomidina, did not demonstrate increase in the number of adverse events nor in the speed of recovery post surgery.
