Abstract

DA CUNHA UCHOA, Roseanne  et al. Pernos intrarradiculares de fibra de vidrio: Caso clínico. Acta odontol. venez [online]. 2008, vol.46, n.4, pp.501-505. ISSN 0001-6365.

The fragility of endodontically treated teeth is justified by the significant removal of dental tissue during the preparation of the duct. The use of the intraradicular posts tends to increase the resistance to fracture of the dental remainder and the retention of the restoring material. This work presents a clinical case in full detail, in which an intraradicular post of fiberglass was used in a dental element previously treated endodontically, highlighting the easiness of the technique and a clinical evaluation after one and a half year. The authors concluded that it is prudent to recommend the employment of posts of fiberglass for these cases to dissipate the masticatory loads along the root, which in turn decreases the risk of fractures.
