Goal: The goal of this study was to evaluate the prevalence of Sexual Transmitted diseases (STD) among people living with HIV, who attended the Center of Infect Contagious Diseases(CAPEI) seeking dental treatment, at the Dental school of the Universidad Central de Venezuela, period 2000-2005. Study Design: A retrospective study of 858 Dental records of patients HIV+, was done to describe their socio demographics characteristics and the presence of STD, by age and gender. Results: (79,4%) of group the study were males, 20,6% females, with an average age of 37,25±9,74years old, (92,3) were Venezuelans, (74,5%) singles and (49,1%) heterosexuals; (52,7%) had presented a STD; 694 STD were screened overall(ward 93). The mayor prevalence was of syphilis (17%), gonorrhea(16,6%) and hepatitis C(15,4%). 30% of the total population presenting one STD (2247), other even six. Conclusions: this Study highling the needs of implementing STD interventions programs to reduce HIV/AIDS and other STD, and the importance of implementing these programs at HIV health centers.
