VIEIRA N, Jorge. Análisis de las necesidades protésicas de acuerdo a la complejidad del tratamiento de los pacientes que asisten a la Universidad Central de Venezuela en el período 2006 -2007. Acta odontol. venez [online]. 2009, vol.47, n.2, pp.425-431. ISSN 0001-6365.
The American College of Prosthodontist developed a classification method design to indicate increasing levels of diagnostic and treatment complexity presented by patients with varying degrees of partial edentulism. The classification system is intended to offer the following benefits: an objective method for patient screening in dental education and standardized criteria for outcomes assessment and research, among others. A clinical evaluation was performed in 106 patients attending to UCV's Faculty of Dentistry undergraduate program. The data obtained from the evaluation is compiled into a instrument called: "Patients with prosthodontics treatment needs records". Over 70% of the patients assigned were in the intermediate levels of complexity. According to sex, 78% of the patients were female. The analysis of the results, according to the clinical demands in the undergraduate formation, evidenciated the importance to adopt patient's classification methods more accurate to improve the education in the prosthodontics area
