Abstract

SANTANA GOMES, Gabriela Luna; DA COSTA GOMES, Roberta Gondim  and  BRAZ, Rodivan. Cemento resinoso: ¿Todo cemento dual debe ser foto activado?. Acta odontol. venez [online]. 2009, vol.47, n.4, pp.225-233. ISSN 0001-6365.

The dual-cure resin cements are luting agents with the intention to join the favorable characteristics of light-cure and self-cure resin cements. Nowadays, they are been used when there is loss or absence of light due to distance of the activation source to the luting agent as in clinical cases involving the use of endodontic posts, or in situations in which there is reduction of the light passage due to metallic indirect restoring material or an indirect restoring aesthetic thick material. However, the literature shows that if a dual-cure resin cement goes inadequately polymerized it can be associated to the decrease of their properties and consequently clinical failures. Therefore, the present work aims to do a critical review about the need of photoactivation of dual- cure resin cements throught articles that evaluate the properties of these materials when submitted to the chemical, light and dual activation
