Resumen

ORTIZ DOMINGUEZ, Aída  y  TORRES, Sandra. La densidad de arroz rojo sobre el rendimiento y sus componentes de la variedad de arroz ZETA 15. Agronomía Trop. [online]. 2004, vol.54, n.3, pp.321-330. ISSN 0002-192X.

Real values of losses caused on harvests by the interfence of red rice (RR) are unknown to Venezuelan rice farmers. In this research work, an evaluation was performed of the effect of interference of different densities of populations of RR, Oryza sativa L., on grain yields and their components for rice cultivar ZETA 15. An experimental random block design with three replicates and 11 treatments was used, each one with an area of 4 m2, witch were composed by densities of red rice that oscillated between 0 at 50 pl m-2 with intervals of 5 pl m-2. At harvest, the following variables were determined: rice grain yields at 12% humidity content and their components (number panicles m-2, grain per panicle, % fertility and weight of 1.000 grains). A variance analysis and Tukey mean test at 5% were carried out. Grains yields of cultivar ZETA 15 decreased proportionately with density of RR achieving their maxim reduction (62%) at the highest level of RR population. Number of panicle m-2 decreased as the number of RR plants in the plot increased, exhibiting a reduction of 53,13% between test (control) and treatment with 50 pl m-2 of RR.
