SALAZAR, Efraín; TORREALBA, Darío; CASTRO, Luis y TORREALBA, María. La caseina hidrolizada inhibe el desarrollo de callos provenientes de anteras de cacao cultivadas in vitro. Agronomía Trop. [online]. 2005, vol.55, n.4, pp.497-505. ISSN 0002-192X.
In order to induce morphogenetic responses on cocoa, Theobroma cacao L. cv OC 61, anther-derived calluses were cultured on MS medium supplemented with 45 g l-1 Sucrose, Thiamine-HCl (1 mg l-1) Nicotinic acid (1 mg l-1) Pyridoxine HCl (1 mg l-1), myo-inositol (1 g l-1) and coconut water (10%), solidified with Sigma agar (6 g l-1). Different concentrations of hydrolyzed Casein (0, 1, 3 y 5 g l-1) were tested. Callus growth was reduced with the increase of Casein concentration. Coconut water proved to be beneficial for callus growth. Neither hydrolyzed Casein nor coconut water induced organ or somatic embryo formation. The increase of hydrolyzed casein accelerated tissue darkening.
