Resumen

VARGAS C, Teresa Edith; OROPEZA C, Maira  y  DE GARCIA, Eva. Micropropagation of hippeastrum sp. Agronomía Trop. [online]. 2006, vol.56, n.4, pp.621-626. ISSN 0002-192X.

Hippeastrum is a genus of the Amaryllidaceae family, whose species are highly appreciated for their ornamental and medicinal value due to their beauty and production of alkaloids of utility in the pharmaceutical industry. The goal of this work was to propagate Hippeastrum plants in vitro and massively. For explant disinfection a meticulous protocol was used because of the presence of mucilage and bacteria. Intact and sectioned bulbs were incubated on MS (1962) salts supplemented with thiamine (0,4 mg l-1), sucrose (30 g l-1), solidified with agar (8 g l-1) and incubated under continuous fluorescent light conditions at a temperature of 23 ± 1 °C. Treatments assayed were Benzylaminopurine (BA, 0,5, 1, 2, 3 mg l-1) only, combined with Naphtalenacetic acid (ANA, 0,1 mg l-1) and a control medium without hormonal substances. For sectioned bulbs, BA (0,5, 1 mg l-1) and the control medium proved to be the best treatments that favored shoot formation, while for intact bulbs the best treatments were BA (2, 3 mg l-1).
