Abstract
URDANETA GONZALEZ, Jeanetvska; VALERIO, Rosanna; VARGAS, Teresa Edith and DE GARCIA, Eva. Morphoanatomic aspects of callus originated during the induction process of somatic embryogenesis in banana williams, subgroup cavendish (Musa sp. GROUP AAA). Agronomía Trop. [online]. 2006, vol.56, n.4, pp.697-703. ISSN 0002-192X.
Morphoanatomical characteristics of callus obtained during the induction process of somatic embryogenesis in banana Musa sp. cv. Williams were analyzed. Hands on positions 7th to 20th coming from immature masculine inflorescences were cultured on a solid media for callus induction (MA1). After 6 months of culture, calli showed different morphologies, color and texture. They were classified by its consistency and color in: nodular white compact callus (NWCC), smooth white compact callus (SWCC), semi-compact brown callus (SCBC) and friable beige callus (CBgF). The histological studies of these calli demonstrated the presence of cells of different shapes, different cellular organization, as well as embryogenic cells. After 15 days of culture in liquid medium MA2, all calli had different proportion of embryogenic and non embryogenic cells.
