Resumen

ORTIZ DOMINGUEZ, Aída; PEREZ, Antonio; OCHOA, Jesús  y  LAZO, José Vicente. Characterization of red rice comes from lots of rice seed part II. Agronomía Trop. [online]. 2007, vol.57, n.3, pp.157-169. ISSN 0002-192X.

Red rice (RR) continues to be a serious threat to rice seed production, Oryza sativa L. The objetive of this work was to classify RR coming from lots where certified rice is grown, according to their affinity with the varieties of rice FONAIAP 1, FEDEARROZ 50, D-Sativa; ZETA 15® and Cimarrón. Some morphologic characteristics of the plant and grain were evaluated following rice variety descriptor, using Multivariate analysis for principal component and Hierarchical clustering (Euclidian distance). The cluster analysis showed that 7 group were formed. The first four of them corresponded to 32 RR and 1 wild rice (Oryza rufipogon), which could be easily distinguished from the varieties. The last three groups had 15 RR that could be considered as weedy rice-variety types due to their affinities with the varieties evaluated in this study. Due to its great similarity in plant height and flowering time with rice varieties, it is considered that 29 RR (60.41%) included in the groups I and III, could be evolving towards Weedy rice-variety types. Only 8.33% of RR had substantial differences in morphologic characteristics with the rice varieties evaluated.

Palabras clave : Rice; Oryza sativa L; red rice; Weedy rice-variety types; seed production.
