VIVAS, Luis E; ASTUDILLO, Dilcia y CAMPOS, Luis. Evaluation of the effectiveness of insecticide etofenprox 10.9% for the control of the sogata insect in the culture of rice, in Calabozo Miranda county, Venezuela. Agronomía Trop. [online]. 2007, vol.57, n.4, pp.287-297. ISSN 0002-192X.
Studies were conducted in rice, Oryza sativa, fields located at the Río Guárico Irrigation System (R.G.I.S.) and within the Guárico Experimental Station in Calabozo, Venezuela from the year 2002 to 2004. The objectives were to evaluate the degree of effectiveness of several doses of chemical agents to control Tagosodes orizicolus in rice fields. Methodology and forms to evaluate the sogata insect under field conditions of the rice agrosystem are described. A factorial experiment with 5 treatments in a completely random design with four replications and Abbot's corrected formula were used to determine the degree of effectiveness. Evaluations were performed 24 hours, 7 and 14 days after application of the products. Best results were for: Etofenprox 10.9% (= Trebón i. a. g 11,5 y 9,0 g), which displayed degrees of effectiveness over 70%. The best treatments for the control of the sogata insect were: Etofenprox (= Trebon i. a. g 11,5 y 9,0 g) with a 75% of effectiveness and Etofenprox (9 g i.a ha-1) with a 70% of control. The information of the commercial test of the insecticide (Etofenprox 10%) with the commercial dose of 1.0 t ha-1, for the control of the sogata insect in farm 163 and 521 of R.G.I.S in Calabozo, Miranda. County is presented. An average control of 82% of sogata planthopper was obtained in both farms.
