RUSSIAN, Tania y OROPEZA, Julio. Evaluation in nursery of three rootstock for the development of the criolla orange in the sector macanillas - curimagua. Agronomía Trop. [online]. 2008, vol.58, n.4, pp.345-350. ISSN 0002-192X.
The orange, Citrus sinensis, variety 'Criolla' of Curimagua, is adapted to the climatic conditions of this area, and it normally present high relations of total soluble solids (tss), titratable acidity (tta), and the tss/tta ratio, which made it an attractive alternative to be used in plant renovation programs. Normally, the farmers have plantations of 'Criolla' and of 'Valencia'; the first without grafted and the second on rootstock 'Volkameriana' and 'Cleopatra'. So far, at the present time, there is not report of grafted orange 'Criolla' behavior. In this work we evaluated the effect of differents rootstock (Volkameriana, citrumelo Swingle, and Cleopatra) under nursery conditions, for the propagation of the variety 'Criolla', in a completelly randomized desing with three repetitions, and three plants in each experimental unit. The length of the graft, the number of leaves, and the ratio diameter of the graft/diameter rootstock (Dg/Dr), as well as the length, fresh weight and dry weight of the root, were measured. The results were analyzed using the InfoStat program (P<0.05). It was found that the 'Volkameriana' and 'Cleopatra' shown similar effect in the growth from the graft, but both of them were significantly higher than the citrumelo, which shown the lowest longitude. However, the biggest ratio Dg/Dr was observed in citrumelo. The length and fresh weight of the root were superior in the 'Volkameriana', but the highest dry weight was observed in the Volkameriana and in the citrumelo Swingle.
