Abstract
VIVAS C, Luis E; NOTZ, Armando and ASTUDILLO, Dilcia. Population fluctuation of Bug Vaneadora in rice parcels, Jail Been Guárico State, Venezuela. Agronomía Trop. [online]. 2010, vol.60, n.3, pp.61-73. ISSN 0002-192X.
Information about the population dynamics of the rice bug, Oebalus insularis (Stal) is presented. Seven commercial fields of rice located in the irrigation system of Guarico River, Guarico State, Venezuela (SRRG) and two rice fields located outside of the irrigation system were evaluated. Observations were made between 2001 to 2007 during the dry and rainy seasons. The objectives of this study were to measure the population dynamics of the bug O. insularis using an entomological net, and to estimate the damage effect caused by high insect populations on three rice varieties. Rice bug populations were abundant and reached a peak during the rainy season (May to October). Insect density was correlated with rice crop development. The Highest numbers were collected during the maturation cycle. With respect to the damage effect there were no significant differences among the six rice varieties
