GAMEZ LOPEZ, Arnaldo; HERNANDEZ, Manuel; DIAZ, Rómulo e VARGAS, José. CHARACTERIZATION OF WEED FLORA RELATED TO MAIZE CROP UNDER IRRIGATION JOJOTOS PRODUCTION. Agronomía Trop. [online]. 2011, vol.61, n.2, pp.133-140. ISSN 0002-192X.
In order to know the weeds associated with a maize crop under irrigation for the production of maize, Zea mays L., an inventory was conducted in the farm Mamonal located Valle de la Pascua parish, municipality Leonardo Infante, State of Guarico, Venezuela. Minimum sampling area (WMA) was determined using squared pattern of 0,25 m2. Density, frequency, dominance and importance value index (IVI) for species sampled were determined. A total of 29 species belonging to 17 families were identified during inventory, which in relation to the life cycle is represented by 86.21% annual plants and 13.79% perennials plants. The monocot class families (Liliopsida) were: Poaceae and Cyperaceae. Dicot class (Magnoliopsida), was represented by the families: Euphorbiaceae, Amaranthaceae, Scrophulariaceae, Capparidaceae, Asteraceae, Cucurbitaceae, Molluginaceae, Sterculiaceae, Fabaceae, Boraginaceae, Portulacaceae, Convolvulaceae, Malvaceae, Solanaceae, Asclepiadaceae. Species Digitaria sanguinalis (L.) Scop. and Cyperus rotundus L. were predominant according to population parameters calculated. Inventory of weeds can be the basis and tools for producers of corn in order to draw up plans for their management and optimize the yields of this crop.
