Introduction:

Digital health literacy is a global public health priority, especially in the era of the "infodemic," where the public increasingly seeks health information online amid varying quality. Wikipedia serves as a major dissemination tool, yet expert curation is essential.

Objective:

To describe the design, implementation, and results of the multicultural, bilingual "Health for All" editathon as a replicable knowledge-translation model in nutrition and food safety.

Materials and methods:

This 4-day virtual event (Spanish/English) involved collaborations between The World Health Organization (WHO), Cornell University, and Wikimedia/Creative Commons communities. One hundred priority articles were identified through WHO experts using the e-Library of Evidence for Nutrition Actions (eLENA) and Cochrane.

Results:

Forty-five volunteers from 12 countries registered, with 63.1% being health professionals and 13.3% experienced Wikipedians. Nineteen actively edited 64 items (51 Wikipedia articles, 13 Wikidata items), creating 22 new pages and adding 13 references, accumulating over 406,000 page views. Two out of three predefined targets were achieved, with a 2022 follow-up confirming replicability.

Conclusions:

The "Health for All" initiative is participatory, feasible, and low-cost. Collaboration among global institutions, academia, and multicultural volunteers can significantly enhance the quality of public health information on this highly used platform.
