LIZARZABAL G, Maribel; RODRIGUEZ DE LEON LEON, Luís and POLEO, José R. Calidad de los programas de Post-grado de gastroenterología en Venezuela. Gen [online]. 2006, vol.60, n.2, pp.87-95. ISSN 0016-3503.
There are sixteen Post-graduated Programs in Gastroenterology in Venezuela. All of them differ in curriculum, academic and research structure and even in their own graduated profile. The aim of this research was to evaluate the presence of a structured curricular design as well as identify their human resources, physical, academic, research and management features. The research tool A, designed for be answerer by the Program Director allow to grade individual and global quality of Gastroenterology Post-graduated Programs. While 71.4 % of the Programs have only university accreditation; 36.7% of them are certified by CNU. However, only 14.2% of the Programs (2 of 14) were graded A in Quality, 42.8% were graded B, 37.7% were graded C and 7.1% graded D. Curricular design is deficient in 42.8% of the programs. Deficient research is the most important problem detected (78.6%), followed by deficient physical structure (71.4%) and deficient evaluation tools (57.1%). However, academic features are good in 57.1% of the Programs who achieve more than 80% of the indicators of quality measured. We are worry by the absence of University Professors in many Programs, very important for the "academic" training. The research tool B face the same problem but in the user´s landscape (46 of 70 students) 13% and 8.7% of the Programs were graded A and B according quality. 71.7% graded C and 6.5% .D As educational Committee of the Venezuelan Society of Gastroenterology, we propose curriculum standardization and advise to solve the deficient indicators of quality detected.
