The Clotest, hostology and serology are methods available for the detection of the Helicobacter Pylori infection. They have high sensitivity and especificity. Objetive: The aim of this study was to evaluate the sensitivity and especificity of Clotest, histology. Serology cultive and PCR, using the histology as a gold standar. Patients and methods: sixty patients evaluated in a prospective study between 2004 y 2005 with despeptic sysntoms and upper endoscopy indication en the University Hospital of Maracaibo. Results: the age old the patients was between 14 and 85. Were males 30 and females 62. The indications were: no ulces dispeptic in 71 patients (85%) and in 21 were dispeptic ulcers. The endoscopic finding included: 16 patients with gastritis (17.39%), 28 patients with gostroduodenitis (30.43%), 1 patient with duodenitis (1.09%) in 26 patients with others patologies (28.26%). Were compared Clotest with histology, the sensitivity was (58%) and especificity (50%), and when they were compared histology with serology the sensitivity was (89%) and especificity was (96%). Conclusion: The histology and the serology were higher than Clotest for the detection of the Helicobacter Pylori infection.
