Abstract

NAVA, Gustavo et al. Tumores del confluente bilio-pancreático estudio morfológico de 23 piezas de gastroduodenopancreatectomía (resección de whipple). Gen [online]. 2008, vol.62, n.1, pp.21-23. ISSN 0016-3503.

The malignant tumours of the ampullar region represent 1 % of all carcinomas and 5% of gastrointestinal carcinomas. They generally peak in incidence in the eighth decade of life and they are more frequent in male than female. We evaluated 23 specimens of Whipple´s resection (pancreaticoduodenectomy) for neoplasic pathology, in the surgical pathology section of Anatomopathology Institute “Jose O’Daly” in a period from 2000 to 2005. All tumours were epithelial and 92 % of the cases were malignant tumours.

Keywords : pancreaticoduodenectomy; duodenal ampulla’s; common bile duct (choledochus); adenocarcinoma; neuroendocrine carcinoma.
