Periampullary tumours are a heterogeneous group of neoplasias situated in the anatomical place that gives them their name. With the aim of identifying the clinical - pathological features of these diseases, a retrospective review of clinical reports of 15 patients with the diagnosis of periampullary neoplasias admitted at the Instituto Autónomo Hospital Universitario de Los Andes, from year 2000 to 2006 was made. There were 9 men and 6 women (M: W 1,5:1). The mean age was 54,8 years (range 34-89 years). Hyporexy (100%), abdominal pain (53,8%), weight loss (100%) and jaundice, coluria and acolia (80%) were the most frequent symptoms and 86,6% had an evolution of less than 6 months. 73,3% corresponded with pancreatic cancer, 20% with cancer of the papilla and 6,66% with cholangiocarcinoma. 66,66% presented distant metastasis. Adenocarcinoma was the most common histological type (93,33%). 26,66% of the patients received surgical treatment and the same percentage received chemotherapy and palliative radiotherapy.
