Introduction: In oncologic patients the levels of transaminases can rise during chemotherapy masking the acute infection by HBV and HCV, our objective was to determine the acute clinic in infected oncologic pediatric patients during this period. Methodology: A descriptive, longitudinal study was made based on the revision of 50 clinical histories of children in gastroenterology consults in a period of 20 years, with the data collected we calculated the average and the standard deviation for the continuous variables;and frequency and percentage for the nominals. Results: Of patients 70% became infected with HBV and 48% with HVC, 90% were asymptomatic and 68.9% presented high aminotransferases. 68% had positive markers during the first year of chemotherapy. Two cases of hepatic insufficiency and one deceased were registered. 62% were not vaccinated. Conclusion: Acute infection by HBV and HCV is not of frequent presentation and when it happens it is sudden, there is no association between the rise of hepatic aminotransferases and clinical manifestations; acquiring the infection during the chemotherapy. The state of immunization for the hepatitis B virus of this population was determining.
