Abstract

PERNALETE P, Beatriz et al. Trombosis arterial asociada a enfermedad de Crohn: presentación de dos casos. Gen [online]. 2008, vol.62, n.3, pp.227-229. ISSN 0016-3503.

Thromboembolic episodes are well known extraintestinal manifestations of inflammatory bowel disease, but it is a rare clinical complication.Histological and hematological studies suggest that a hypercoagulable state is involved in the pathogenesis of inflammatory bowel disease. However, the exact mechanism of hypercoagulability is still unknown. During the acute recurrences there is an increase of factor VIII, fibrino gen platelets, factor V and a decrease of antithrombin III. Hematologic disorders seem markedly correlated with the activity of the disease. We report two patients with Crohn´s disease and hypercoagulability syndrome. We review the literature and discuss about the pathogenic mechanisms of such complication.

Keywords : Crohn´s disease; hypercoagulability.
