Use of proton pump inhibitors (PPI) thus obtaining control of gastric secretion, is one of the basis in therapy for acid related gastric disorders. Worldwide and indiscriminate use has revealed certain side effects that should be recognized. Although certain doubts may be observed, we discuss them. IBP’s should be employed under strict indications and in as a short time as possible.
