Zenker's diverticulum, also called pharyngoesophageal diverticulum, is a type of diverticulum of the mucosa of the pharynx, which is located at the top of the cricopharyngeal muscle, ie above the upper esophageal sphincter. It is a false diverticulum in the sense that it undertakes all layers of the pharyngeal wall. The formation mechanisms are controversial even drive and traction.
