Abstract

Sarcomatoid carcinoma or carcinosarcoma is an infrequent malignant neoplasm and the most common location is the breast, ovary, urinary system, thyroid and esophagus. It is characterized by dual neoplastic cells, given the coexistence of carcinoma cells with glandular disposition and sarcomatoid spindle cells. A case of a 65-year-old male patient, who presents asthenia, adynamia and rectal bleeding, he was underwent of an upper gastrointestinal endoscopy and the findings were a pedicled lesion approximately 1 cm in diameter, which was extracted by endoscopic mucosal resection (ERM) without complications. Histopathological report revealed "gastric carcinoma with sarcomatoid features". Currently the patient is in good general condition with annual endoscopic follow-up.
