Abstract

LOUIS PEREZ, Cesar  and  MEJIAS AMATIMA, Gabriel. Effects of Levosulpyride on vesicular motility in patients with diabetes mellitus type 2 complicated with autonomic neuropathy. Gen [online]. 2021, vol.75, n.1, pp.7-12.  Epub Apr 16, 2021. ISSN 0016-3503.

Objetive:

To determine the effects of levosulpiride on vesicular motility in patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus with autonomic neuropathy.

Methods:

descriptive, prospective, transversal study. Vesicular volume at fasting, postprandial, residual and ejection fraction were determined in 16 patients, pre and post-administration of levosulpiride.

Results:

The basal vesicular volume was 43.39 cm3. After the administration of levosulpiride, a significant decrease in vesicular volume was observed at 18 minutes (39.01 cm3), 24 minutes (32.28 cm3) and 30 minutes (22.86 cm3). The residual volume (20.52 cm3) and the ejection fraction (53.50%) were determined.

Conclusions:

The administration of levosulpiride resulted in a significant decrease in postprandial vesicular volume at 18, 24 and 30 minutes, as well as an increase in the fraction of vesicular ejection, therefore, improved vesicular motility.

Keywords : diabetes mellitus; autonomic neuropathy; vesicular motility; levosulpiride.
