SUMMARY Objective: To evaluate histologically material obtained by uterine curettage. Method: Descriptive study from October 1994 to October 1995. Setting: Maternidad "Concepción Palacios". Results: 514 patients were evaluated, 144 (28.01%) were between 21 and 25 years old and 192 (37.35%) multipary. Five patients (0.97%) had molar disease history; 378 (73.54%) patients consulted due to hemorrhage. The histopatological clusters in 4 categories showed incomplete abortion in 296 cases (57.58%), nonconfirmed abortion in 188 (36.58%), 8 (1.55%) cases were classified as trofoblastic gestational disease, 6 (1.16%) partial mola, one case probably was a coriocarcinoma and another with trofoblastic tumor of the placental stratum, 12 cases (2.33%) were clasified as other patologies and 10 cases the material was inappropiated. Conclusion: Partial mola is an entity that was present in the sample evaluated with an incidence of 1.16 per 100 incomplete abortions.
