Setting: Maternity of the "Dr. Adolfo Prince Lara" Hospital, Puerto Cabello, Carabobo State, Venezuela. Results: The incidence was 0.27%, the predominant age was 20 to 29 years old (42.11%). The 57.90% was term pregnancy and 42.10% preterm. The diagnosis was performed during pregnancy in 68.42% and 31.58% in puerperium. The utero placental complications were 31.56%, renal complications 26.31%, and hematologic 5.26%. In the 47.36% were HELLP class I; 26.32% class II and III, respectively. Conclusion: It is very important a good prenatal care to make an early diagnosis of pregnancy induced hypertension to prevent complications like HELLP.
