Objective: To present a regulated participative teaching experience and its results. Method: Descriptive study based on applied documental revision during 1993 to 2002, implemented according to the development of the specific educational regulation. Setting: Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology, "Dr. Adolfo Prince Lara" Hospital, Puerto Cabello, Estado Carabobo. Results: The regulation consists of VIII Chapters and 35 articles, which detail the attributions and functions of coordinators, professors, students and the evaluation system. There are 18 resident studying now (fifth, sixth and seventh cohort) and 24 graduate (from the first one until the fourth cohort). During the first year a total of 107 educational activities were completed, 100 in the second and 96 in the third; they included, theoretical classes, seminars, presentation of clinical cases, bibliography revision, discussion of clinical cases, and internships. Student should carry out a scientific day before the grade and to present a scientific work as grade thesis. The first promotion had an average 18.35 points with ranges (16.73-18-40), the second 17.71 (17.11 - 18.20), third 17.57 (16.73 - 18.40), the fourth 19.30 (18.81 - 19.53). They have participated in 15 published scientific works and in six Congresses. The organized 4 meeting. Conclusion: These highly favorable results points out that the process educational regulated participative is a useful educational strategy of supreme profit. As all dynamic activity it forces to periodic revisions.
