Objective: To determine early the fetal sex through an ecography evaluation of the genital tubercle. Setting: Prenatal care unit at the Maternidad Concepcion Palacios. Methods: Transversal and descriptive study in 97 pregnant women with approximately 10 to 13 weeks of gestation. An evaluation with a transvaginal ultrasound was preformed in the genital tubercle for sex determination. The results were corroborated after birth. Results: Sex was determined correctly in 80 cases (82.47%), with 41 correct determinations for males (83.67%) and 39 (81.25%) for females. Conclusion: The transvaginal ultrasound is a useful method for the diagnosis of fetal sex between 10 and 13 weeks of gestation.
