REYNA-VILLASMIL, Eduardo et al. Efectos del estradiol y acetato de noretisterona sobre los lípidos y la lipoproteína (a) sérica en posmenopáusicas ooforectomizadas.. Rev Obstet Ginecol Venez [online]. 2007, vol.67, n.1, pp.41-46. ISSN 0048-7732.
Objective: To determine the effects of estradiol and norethisterone acetate combination on lipid profile and lipoprotein (a) in healthy oophorectomized postmenopausal women. Method: Thirty six patients who underwent hysterectomy and salpingo-oophorectomy with climacteric symptoms were included. Patients were treated with 2 mg of estradiol and 1 mg of norethisterone acetate daily for 12 months. Serum concentrations of triglycerides, HDL cholesterol, LDL cholesterol, cholesterol and lipoprotein (a) were measured at baseline and at 3, 6, 9 and 12 months of treatment. Setting: Hospital Central Dr. Urquinaona, Maracaibo. Results: There were not statically significant changes in mean values of cholesterol, triglycerides and LDL cholesterol after 3, 6, 9 and 12 months of treatment when compared with baseline values (P = ns). An increased in HDL cholesterol values were seen since 3 first months of treatment. During the first 3 months of treatment lipoprotein (a) levels did not vary significantly (P = ns). From 6 months of treatment, and at 9 and 12 months, these serum levels raised significantly when compared with baseline values (P < 0,05). Conclusions: Oral administration of estradiol and norethisterone acetate produces significant changes in HDL and lipoprotein (a) values, without affecting serum concentrations of cholesterol, triglycerides and LDL cholesterol in oophorectomized postmenopausal women.
