Resumen

VILLASMIL, Eduardo Reyna et al. Perfil lipídico en mujeres premenopáusicas y posmenopáusicas. Rev Obstet Ginecol Venez [online]. 2007, vol.67, n.2, pp.107-114. ISSN 0048-7732.

Objective: To compare lipidic composition between post-menopausal and pre-menopausal women. Method: One hundred women were selected (50 post-menopausal y 50 pre-menopausal), to determine total cholesterol, tryglicerides, LDL and HDL cholesterol, as well as sub fractions of HDL2 and HDL3, VLDL, IDL, LDL cholesterol. Setting: Posmenopausal out patient clinic at Hospital Central “Dr. Urquinaona”, Maracaibo. Results: Age interval was 47 ± 1,5 year-old for pre-menopausal women and 51 ± 3,0 year-old for postmenopausal women (P < 0,05). Post-menopausal women presented higher values of total cholesterol, LDL cholesterol, IDL cholesterol and tryglicerides (P < 0,05). No patients presented hypertrigliceridemia and mean values were higher in this group than in pre-menopausal women (P < 0,05). Conclusion: Menopause (through a conjunction between aging and hypoestrogenism) produce a proatherogenic state, manifested by: rise of tryglicerides, cholesterol and LDL cholesterol. Concentrations of tryglicerides in LDL cholesterol and modifications of HDL cholesterol could alter its function in reversal transport of cholesterol.

Palabras clave : Menopause; Lipoproteins; Cholesterol.; Tryglicerides.
