FANEITE, Pedro et al. Estado neonatal en prematurez: 2005-2007. Rev Obstet Ginecol Venez [online]. 2008, vol.68, n.4, pp.222-227. ISSN 0048-7732.
Objective: To study the preterm delivery, the neonatal state and its perinatal morbid-mortality. Methods: A descriptive, retrospective, epidemiological study of 199 pregnant women and 224 preterm babies occurred during the period 2005-2007. There were 6 988 live births in the period, with an incidence of 3.2%. Setting: Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology, Hospital "Dr. Adolfo Prince Lara", Puerto Cabello, Carabobo State. Results: The pathology of income was the predominant preterm labor 41.20 % (82/199), threat of premature delivery26.13% (52/199), premature rupture of membranes 15.07 % (30/199) and pregnancy-induced hypertension (7.53 %) (15/199). The high gravity was 56.28% (112/199), 66.84% (133/199) with age pregnancy between 28 and 36 weeks, and 71.36% (142/199) had vaginal delivery. The male infants were at 54.46% (122/224), weighing between 1500 and 2499 g 52.67 % (118/224) and 40-44 cm height neonatal 33.03 % (74/224); index Apgar was 6 or less in 84.05 % (137/163). The morbidity rate was 41.07 % (92/224) and neonatal mortality 12.95 % (29/224), this was decisive respiratory distress syndrome and sepsis. Conclusion: The high incidence of prematurity presents neonatal morbidity, its main causes are respiratory deficiencies and sepsis. This indicates that we must continue to explore factors etiology and provide maternal and neonatal care of high quality
