SUMMARY Objective: To establish the epidemiological characteristics of patients with endometriosis. Methos: Descriptive and cross-sectional investigation. Population of 54 patients. Non probabilistic sample. Gathering of the information with the documental revision and a record. Setting: Consulta de endometriosis del Hospital Universitario Dr. Angel Larralde de Valencia Results: Age average 30 years ± 5.8. Consultation reasons: Dysmenorrhea (70.7 %), pelvic pain (58.5.%) and dyspareunia (36.6 %). Age menarche average 12 years. 29 % reported some type of menstrual dysfunction, the most frequent the metrorrhagia (17 %). 41.5 % referred previous use of oral contraceptive pills. 34 % of the patients had not been pregnant never, 26.8 % had had one pregnancy. Among the obstetrical and gynecological surgical antecedents, 39 % reported caesarian, 26.8 % oophorectomy and 19.5 % curettage. The more frequent endometriosis were the ovarian one (56.09 %) and in postcesarian abdominal scar (24.39 %). Conclusion: The endometriosis is a typical pathology of woman in reproductive age, it may give in the adolescence.
