Resumen
FERNANDEZ, Gerardo et al. Alteraciones hemostáticas en pacientes con sangrado uterino anormal. Rev Obstet Ginecol Venez [online]. 2009, vol.69, n.1, pp.35-40. ISSN 0048-7732.
Objective: To know the frequency of hemostatic defects in women with abnormal uterine bleeding Methods: 55 patients, 17 to 55 years of age, with abnormal uterine bleeding, were studied. A clinical history, a physical examination that included a gynecological exam, endometrial biopsy, and pelvic and transvaginal echograms, comprised the evaluation in each patient. A haemostatic profile was also performed that included: prothrombin and partial thromboplastin times, factors VIII (FVIII), von Willebrand (vWF) and IX (FIV) determinations, and platelet aggregation with epinephrine, ADP, collagen and ristocetin. Setting: Nuestra Señora de Chiquinquira Hospital, Maracaibo. Venezuela and Instituto de Investigaciones Clinicas " Dr. Americo Negrette", Facultad de Medicina. Universidad del Zulia. Results: All women had either an organic, functional or mixed genital alteration. Coagulation times and concentration of factors were normal, with the exception of one patient with 0.47U/μL of FVIII. In 51.1 % of the cases, the platelet aggregation was defective. Conclusion: The frequency of coagulation defects was similar in patients with abnormal uterine bleeding and the general population. For this reason, a thorough coagulation profile is not justified in all patients with abnormal uterine bleeding, however, the high proportion of abnormal platelet aggregations should be taken into account before a surgical procedure.
