Objective: Determine risk factors associated with intrauterine growth restriction. Methods: A retrospective, epidemiological and descriptive study of 262 patients with diagnosis of Intrauterine Growth Restriction from 1999 to 2008. It was analyzed risk factors: age, parity, prenatal care, perinatal outcome. Setting: Department of Obstetric, Hospital Central de Maracay. Results: The mean age was 25.4 years. In parity 53 % had from two to four pregnancies. In 48.8 % there were no cause of the intrauterine growth restriction. 79 % of neonates wereterm and weight below 2 500 g. Conclusion: Infants with IGR represent a heterogeneous group and affects neonates with low birth weight. Diagnosis the cause of IGR and the proper management of these infants is important.
