FARIA, Francymar; FERRAROTTO, Marianell  y  GONZALEZ BLANCO, Mireya. Función sexual en pacientes histerectomizadas. Rev Obstet Ginecol Venez [online]. 2015, vol.75, n.1, pp.030-040. ISSN 0048-7732.

Objective: To identify changes in sexual function related to hysterectomy in a group of patients treated in the Maternidad “Concepcion Palacios”. Methods: Design prospective, longitudinal and descriptive. Applied to 100 patients female Sexual Function Index, before the intervention, 3 and 6 months later. Desire, arousal, lubrication, orgasm, satisfaction and pain was evaluated. Data were distributed according to the frequency, absolute and relative, compared by differences of proportions or Chi square (P < 0.05). Results: At 3 months 32 % of patients had not initiated sexual activity, this returned to baseline at 6 months. The frequency of sexual activity increased from 43 % to 73 % in the sixth month. Pain and its intensity is significantly reduced. None of the stages of sexual function was affected at 6 months of follow-up. The surgical technique and complications had no influence on sexuality. Conclusions: Hysterectomy does not generate changes in sexual function, when there usually are positive. These are independent of the surgical technique and complications.
