RIVAS, Marianela; GONZALEZ, Xiomara y GUEVARA, Harold. Valores de referencia del índice de pulsatilidad de la arteria uterina durante el embarazo. Rev Obstet Ginecol Venez [online]. 2016, vol.76, n.3, pp.225-231. ISSN 0048-7732.
Objective: To establish the normal reference values of the mean pulsatility index of the uterine artery between 11 and 40 gestation weeks. Methods: A prospective type, cross-sectional and non-experimental study was performed. Doppler ultrasound was used to evaluate uterine arteries of 559 pregnant women with singleton fetuses with normal growth between weeks 11-40 of gestation. Average pulsatility index (Average pulsatility index = pulsatility index of right uterine artery plus pulsatility index of left uterine artery/2) was calculated and the prevalence of early diastolic notch in each week of gestation was identified. To obtain normal values of average pulsatility index, the median was calculated as a measure of central tendency and percentiles as measures of position. Seting: Hospital Dr. Adolfo Prince Lara. Results: The pulsatility index values of both uterine arteries showed inverse correlation with gestational age. The prevalence of unilateral and bilateral early diastolic notch during pregnancy was 19.6% and 17.45% respectively. Conclusions: The Average Pulsatility index of the uterine arteries shows a progressive decline until the late stages of pregnancy.
