Objective: to evaluate evolution of the function and sexual pattern in pregnant women attending the Prenatal Service Concepción Palacios Maternity. Methods: prospective, descriptive, comparative, cross-sectional study, included 345 pregnant women, 2 instruments were used: the sexual pattern and the Female Sexual Function Index. Results: The global frequency of sexual dysfunction was 63.5%, in the first trimester of pregnancy was 62.9%, in the second was 55.9 % and the third was 75%. The most affected phase was the desire (67%), the lubrication was less affected (33%), all to evaluate criteria were modified with gestational age (P <0.05), except for pain P = 0.068). The frequency of sexual activity was 2-3 times per week in 34.2 %, intercourse was the predominant sexual activity (78%), sexual orientation prevailed that was heterosexual (88.1 %), the most practiced sexual position was women up top - down man (46.9%), sexual activity was limited product difficult sexual positions (35.9%), fear of hurting the baby (25.5%) and fear of abortion (15,3%), the source of information about sexuality during pregnancy comes from the personal physician (31.9%), and women who did not receive any information at all 30.1 %. Conclusion: There is a high incidence of sexual dysfunction during pregnancy, which is mayor in the first and third trimesters. The most affected phase desire phase. Intercourse is practiced more sexual activity. The frequency was 2-3 times per week. There is high misinformation about this topic among pregnant.
