Objective:
To assess kidney damage in pre-eclamptic patients with severity criteria who come to the obstetrics service of the University Hospital "Dr. Pedro Emilio Carrillo" during January to June 2019.
Methods:
Descriptive, prospective and longitudinal research included 30 patients, aged 15 to 35 years, diagnosed with preeclampsia with signs of severity. After preparing the clinical history of admission, they were taken samples of urea and serum creatinine at admission and at 72 hours of obstetric resolution. Kidney damage was assessed using the Cockcroft-Gault formula at 72-hour admission. Descriptive statistics, central dispersion and trend measurement, Pearson chi square test, Accurate Fisher test, and Student T test, relative risk and 95% confidence intervals were used.
Results:
The average age was 26.46 ± 5.61, urban and rural origin in 50% respectively, primary and secondary educational level in 43.3 %, single 63.33 %, body mass index 28.55 ± 6.87, multiparous 56.66 %, poor prenatal control 63.31 %, stage of renal failure on admission, stage I 69.99 %, increase from stage I to stage II, from 3.33% to 13.33%, persistence of kidney damage in the ages of 31-35 years 16.66 %.
Conclusion:
The patients were young adults, half of the population of urban and rural origin, level of education distributed between primary and secondary, most were single and multiparous, with poor prenatal control. The body mass index was overweight. The number of patients with stage II renal failure increased after 72 hours, persisting in older patients.
