Objective:
To determine the relationship between the level of knowledge, attitudes and practices on cervical cancer prevention of the mothers of Obstetrics students at the Universidad Nacional Mayor de San Marcos, 2023.
Materials and Methods:
Observational, correlational and cross-sectional study. 300 mothers of Obstetrics students from 2nd to 5th year participated and provided their informed consent. The Spearman Correlation test was applied with a significance of 5%. The research had ethical approval.
Results:
The frequency of dialogue between mother-students about cervical cancer prevention was directly related to knowledge (rho = 0.219; p < 0.01) and secondary preventive practices (rho = 0.159; p = 0.006). A direct relationship was observed between knowledge and primary preventive practices (rho = 0.117; p = 0.043). Attitude was directly related to secondary cervical cancer prevention practices (rho = 0.326; p < 0.01).
Conclusions:
There is a direct relationship between knowledge and primary prevention practices, and attitude is directly related to secondary prevention practices. The frequency of dialogue between mother-student is related to knowledge and practices of secondary prevention of cervical cancer.
