GALLEGO-ALVAREZ, Isabela; FERNANDEZ-ZAPATA, William F.  and  CARDONA-MAYA, Walter D.. Vasectomy in Colombia: a comparative analysis between sexes. Rev Obstet Ginecol Venez [online]. 2024, vol.84, n.4, pp.386-391.  Epub May 05, 2025. ISSN 0048-7732.  https://doi.org/10.51288/00840407.

Objective:

To characterize demographic differences among vasectomized, non-vasectomized, and women.

Methodology:

a descriptive study was conducted using a survey. Participants answered questions about age, sex, gender, sexual orientation, number of children, and vasectomy.

Results:

A total of 995 participants were included. Differences were determined among participants according to gender and vasectomy status. Regarding the perception of vasectomy reversal, 10,71 % of vasectomized men, 54,27 % of non vasectomized men, and 65,21 % of women believed in its effectiveness.

Conclusions:

This study highlights the misinformation about the reversibility of vasectomy among non-vasectomized individuals and emphasizes the need for education about the permanent implications of vasectomy.
