Resumen

SARMIENTO PINA, Maira  y  REYNA-VILLASMIL, Eduardo. Extramedullary plasmacytoma of the vulva. Rev Obstet Ginecol Venez [online]. 2025, vol.85, n.1, pp.108-113.  Epub 29-Ago-2025. ISSN 0048-7732.  https://doi.org/10.51288/00850116.

Plasma cell neoplasms are characterized by the uncontrolled growth of plasma cells, and the multiple myeloma being the most common form. Plasmacytoma is a less frequent variant that can present as a single or multiple lesions, with a low incidence of approximately 0.15 per 100,000 inhabitants. Among plasmacytomas, those in the vulvar region are extremely rare, with only six documented cases. The aim of this article is to present a case of extramedullary plasmacytoma of the vulva in a 61-year-old patient. After a series of studies that ruled out multiple myeloma, a biopsy was performed, confirming the presence of atypical plasma cells. The patient underwent successful surgical resection and has shown good progression over two years of follow-up. It is concluded that extramedullary plasmacytoma of the vulva has a favorable prognosis with a low risk of progression to systemic disease, although close monitoring is recommended.
