Resumen

VEGAS VILARRUBIA, Teresa  y  RIEHL, Wendula. Contribución al conocimiento de las especies de Fitoplancton del Embalse de Guri (Venezuela) . Acta Bot. Venez. [online]. 2001, vol.24, n.2, pp.93-132. ISSN 0084-5906.

Results of this research will contribute to the knowledge of phytoplankton of the Guri Reservoir (Bolívar State,Venezuela). Phytoplankton samples were collected during the rainy season in five sampling stations and examined under light microscope. We examined 118 different specimens, from which 34 were new reports of species for Venezuela. Further, 7 varieties and 1 form of species known to live in the country are found for the first time in Venezuela. From the species identified, 41 had been reported for the Guri reservoir and 12 for other Venezuelan waterbodies in the past. In terms of percentiles, hlorophyceae accounted for 58.5% of the whole examined specimens, Bacillariophyceae for 16.1%, Cyanophyceae 15.3%, Euglenophyceae for 7.6% and Dinophyceae for 2.5%. Desmids represented 60.9 % of Chlorophyceae and 35.6 % of the whole colected specimens, from which 93.2 % belong to nanoplankton (10-50 µm).
