    In an old document from the eighteenth century stored in the National Archives (Caracas, Venezuela) appear nutmeg and cinnammon in a list of medicinal plants collected in 1767 in Venezuela or the Caribbean region by the French botanist and surgeon Jean Baptiste D’Arnault (Lindorf 2002). There is no agreement about the time when these species were introduced in the New World, therefore, the discovery-among those ancient papers - of a reference about an early collection in America may contribute to date more accurately their entrance in our continent.
