MEIER, Winfried. Contribution to the knowledge of Persicaria nepalensis (Meisn.) H.Gross and P. capitata (Buch.-Ham. ex D.Don) H.Gross, invasive species in the Avila National Park, Venezuela. Acta Bot. Venez. [online]. 2006, vol.29, n.1, pp.1-16. ISSN 0084-5906.
Two exotic species of the Polygonaceae family (Persicaria capitata and P. nepalensis) are described, illustrated and reported for the first time for the Ávila National Park. P. capitata locally dominates landslide areas devastated by the heavy rains occurred in december 1999. Furthermore, it is common in the cracks of the walls and along the roads of the National Park. P. nepalensis is a noxious weed in cultivation areas (especially in strawberry fields) and along roads. Seven phytosociological releves document the habitat of these species.
