    A revision of the specimens of plane talus identified as Laurencia bolivarii Rodríguez present in the central coasts of Venezuela is presented in this study, to elucidate the species taxonomic status. All of the anatomical and reproductive characters of the analyzed specimens match the genus Osmundea. A comparison of Laurencia bolivarii with Osmundea pinnatifida and O. osmunda were done and on this basis it is proposed a new combination, Osmundea bolivarii (Rodríguez) M. García-Ortiz comb. nov., characterized by the presence of cup-like spermatangial depressions, spermatangios type filaments, cells without lenticular thickenings and secondary pit-connections in the epidermal cells.
