DIAZ, Wilmer  y  ROSALES, Judith. Floristic analysis and description of flooded vegetation of Orinoquean Varzeas of the low Orinoco River, Venezuela. Acta Bot. Venez. [online]. 2006, vol.29, n.1, pp.39-68. ISSN 0084-5906.

A description and floristic composition of flooded forests and related plant communities in the most populated Orinoco riparian corridor (proximity of Ciudad Bolívar-Ciudad Guayana) is presented. The following vegetation types were found: 1) flooded herblands and flooded shrublands associated with in-channel sand bars 2) flooded shrublands in backwaters 3) aquatic macrophytes prairies 4) flooded forests of medium size on backswamps 5) flooded forests of low to medium size on levees and banks in islands and point-bar systems. The total inventory resulted in 82 families, 212 genus and 318 species highly related to the Amazonian Varzea vegetation. The families with more than 10 species are: Fabaceae, Mimosaceae, Myrtaceae, Euphorbiaceae, Rubiaceae and Poaceae.
