Abstract

ABSTRACT The revision and analysis of the material preserved in the most important herbaria in the country represents the first study of the genus Herrania for Venezuela. Two species of Herrania, distributed predominantly in humid forests were determined. Herrania lemniscata (Schomb.) Schult. is the most representative species of the genus and the one with the widest distribution. In the taxonomic treatment, the sections accompanied by keys, descriptions and illustrations are indicated with details of flowers and fruits and information of use, habitat and fenology of the species Herrania albiflora Goud and Herrania lemniscata (Schomb.) Schult.
