The naturalization of Scaevola taccada (Goodeniaceae) in Venezuela is reported for the first time. The origin of the wild populations of the Caribbean Sea basin is discussed based on literature and field observations. Careful monitoring of this species is recommended to avoid possible competitive displacement of a number of endangered autochtonous strand species growing together with S. taccada.
